Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) is a type of cloud computing whereby a company provisions hardware resources which are owned and managed by an external company, and delivered over the internet, often as a subscription (therefore the software does not get installed on the user’s device). IaaS offers access to cost effective additional computing capacity on demand to organisations. It incorporates services such as virtual server space, network connections, bandwidth and load balancers.
